Applying for F1 visa status from H4 Nashville, TN Desi Indian

hello friends,
I am doing MS on H4 visa, recently I was awarded GA, since i am not eligible for GA on H4 status, I want to apply for COS to F1. Did any one apply for COS (Change of Status)? can you tell me the process in detail, How many days will it take for your COS to approve? 
I appreciate any assistance!!!

You can file for F1 yourself and the whole process takes about 3-4 months. If you can afford a trip to India or neighboring countries, you can go and come back on F1 visa.

Thank you very much for your reply!! I already made  contact with our International affairs office but they do not have much idea in these matters since this processing is new to them!

for us it took 4  months to approve from F2 to F1

The best option is to contact your immigration office/ International affairs office(every university has one for sure!) in your university and they will help you with the current COS procedure.
