It is pretty much safe (Depends where u live and what you do). Where u moving from?

Nashville is growing city and has county listed in top 20 richest counties in USA.
And expect cost of living as high.

I think, like every other city in the US - safety depends on where you live and hang out. I would say all cities are safe if you are aware and alert of your surroundings and act responsibly. Franklin, brentwood, bellevue are definitely safe. I have not heard good things about antioch, Mt juliet - but I may be wrong about these.
