Though I am also new to this place (Just a month I spent here), still would like to mention few things which might help u in some way.
- Walmart is good for general needs. It would be in your reach only.
- Patel Brothers is good for indian groceries but its in Nashville. I am not sure about your place.
- As internet speed is good here, you can watch live tv’s on this website, idesitv.com etc. (Please add on this list if anybody knows more)
- If u r sure about your long term stay, you can buy post-paid services of mobile (With contract). I bought service of tracphone, which is without any contract. Good thing about tracphone is I can call india at the same rate I call local number, Bad thing is I get charged even for receiving a call (Which is I believe the case for all services without contract) and call rates are a bit more than others. There are plenty of options available in the market with unlimited call, so do check those out.
- When I applied for internet there was a scheme with AT&T to get unlimited internet @ 15$/Month, so I took that. You can check other operators as well like Comcast, which is most popular. I heard AT&T services are not that great (This thing I heard only..)
- GPS is must here (If you are new to place)
- Use google maps or mapquest to search for the place you want to visit.
- You can get many electronic items from refurbished stores, which is generally cheaper than fresh one’s.
